Our Condolences to Christchurch

Assalamu alaikum; peace be upon you. The Islamic Center of Vallejo, and the Muslim community that it serves, offers our heartfelt condolences to the victims, their families, our fellow Muslims in Christchurch, all the people of Christchurch, and all of the people who have been affected by the horrible attacks on two mosques in New Zealand while they were holding Friday prayers.

We pray for all those who were so senselessly murdered, that they be granted entry into Jannah (paradise); we pray for all those who have been injured, that their bodies can heal so that they can begin to heal their hearts and minds; we pray for the families, friends, and community that have lost friends, colleagues, and loved ones, that they can be given strength in this time of sorrow; and we pray for all peaceful people, that they be protected from such barbaric crimes.

To all of our neighbors in Vallejo and the surrounding area who have called or sent messages to offer their condolences and support, to all the people who have sent flowers to the mosque, and to all the people who are silently offering their prayers, we thank you.

Some have asked if we will be holding a vigil in solidarity with the people of Christchurch. Nothing is planned at the moment, but if and when there is any news, we will let you know. For now, please pray for those affected by this horrific crime.

UPDATE: The Islamic Center of Vallejo will be hosting a vigil for Christchurch this Wednesday, March 20th, from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.

Condolences to the families and friends of those murdered within the two Mosques in Christchurch, New Zeland and to the Muslim community all over the world. We the Jewish people stand in solidarity against this act of violence on behalf of the Jewish community in Fairfield, Solano County, State of California, and the diaspora. In Judaism, we say a holy prayer uttered by last Dying Breath: Hear, O Israel, the Lord Our God, the Lord Is One, Amen! Peace and Blessings to our cousins! Joseph Levi
